The European Union (EU) has granted another €3,9 million to the Montenegro’s Ministry of Interior, with the aim of developing further efficient system of border control and management.
After the evaluation of results achieved in the implementation of the Strategy for Integrated Border Management, the EU supported strengthening of the integrated approach to border management with a total of €19,9 million.
Regulation of the river bed of Sutorina has been completed, vehicles and equipment for electronic supervision of state borders have been provided, and the most contemporary video surveillance system at all 28 border crossings has been installed.
Around €5,1 million has been invested for the improvement of border infrastructure and better technical equipment of Border Police.
Plans are afoot for the reconstruction of border crossings Ranče, Sćepan Polje and Vraćenovići, construction of a facility for detailed control of vehicles at Kula border crossing and a facility intended for the needs of the Border Police in Pljevlja.
System for the supervision of green border is soon to be provided, along with the equipment for I and II check lines at border crossings. Provision of unmanned aircraft and motor vehicles has been planned as well. E-Gate system is planned to be installed at the airport in Podgorica.
