EU earmarks additional €2,1 million for more efficient public administration

The European Union has earmarked additional €2,1 million for reform measures to make public administration more accessible and more efficient, while reducing costs for citizens and economy, said representatives of the Ministry of Public Administration.

The EU has earmarked a total of over €6 million for the public administration reform in Montenegro- €4 million in December 2018 and in €2,1 million in December 2019.

Endorsed activities were related to the adoption of the legislative framework for the establishment of sustainable public administration which offers better public services and has capacity to respond to citizens’ needs. Legislative changes have also set a basis for the establishment of the unique information system for the exchange of data among state registers. This will simplify administrative procedures, increase the number of electronic services and improve quality and accessibility of public services, leading to lower costs for citizens and economy. EU’s support stimulated digitization and development of electronic services in the eAdministration portal and strengthening edemocracy through various .

Additionally, the EU supports organization of the civil society recognized as partners in the public administration reform process. Those organizations will undertake activities aimed at raising awareness, they will monitor implementation of the reform and enhance inclusive adoption of policies and participation democracy.

Around 12 projects worth over €2,8 million and financed by the EU are currently underway. They are aimed at the improvement of public administration capacities in Administrative inspection, Agency for the Protection of Personal Data and Free Access to Information, Statistical Office and Human Resources Administration.
