The European Union (EU) expects the new leadership in Montenegro to focus on the key reforms needed for the country to make progress in the EU integration.
The spokeswoman of the European Commission (EC), Ana Pisonero, has said that the European bodies are ready to cooperate with Montenegro and all political actors in order to help it stay on its strategic road and develop consensus on the actions which are key for the EU accession process, Radio Free Europe reports.
“Focusing on the urgent reforms in the area of rule of law, as suggested in the latest EC report, is of paramount importance,” Ms Pisonero says at the news conference in Brussels.
In that sense, she adds, the EU continues to back Montenegro on its European path.
