The European Union has provided important assistance to Montenegro in countering coronavirus consequences and has demonstrated true partnership and solidarity in practice, chief EU negotiator, Mr Aleksandar Drljević, said at the meeting of the Committee on Stabilization and Association between Montenegro and EU.
Mr Drljević touched on the result achieved in the previous year.
As far as political criteria are concerned, he expressed his satisfaction with the fact that parliamentary elections were held in peaceful and tolerant atmosphere. He emphasized the importance of active participation of all political subjects and contribution to the appointment of relevant positions in judicial and prosecutorial organization.
In the part of economic criteria, he reminded that Montenegrin economy has been seriously affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
“Although consequences of the pandemic are huge, I would like to thank the EU and our European partners for their help and financial assistance in these difficult times. We firmly believe that true partnership and solidarity will continue and further improve our relations”, Mr Drljević said.
He emphasized the importance of the improvement of regional cooperation and development of transport infrastructure and additional ways of achieving European standard and quality of life.
Director for WB in Directorate General of EC for neighborhood and enlargement negotiations, Mrs Jenoveva Ruiz Calavera, said that EC would continue to support Montenegro on its EU path. She is proud of the support EU provided to Montenegro in COVID-19 crisis and pointed out that EC would be with Montenegro through the implementation of Economic and Investment Plan for WB.
