Families of Montenegrin military personnel, police officers, and civil servants who lose their lives while participating in international missions are entitled to a compensation of €150,000. This provision was established by a government decision published on the official website, originally dated 30 April 2020. The decision sets monetary compensation for death or injury sustained during engagement in international forces, peacekeeping missions, exercises, or training abroad.
In cases of death caused by injury, wounds, or illness incurred during a mission or exercise, the family receives €150,000. Compensation for non-fatal injuries ranges from €5,000 to €150,000, depending on the severity and need for ongoing care.
Recent government regulations also define daily allowances for participation in international missions: €115 per day for NATO and EU missions, and €70–115 per day for UN missions, depending on the role. These measures aim to standardise payments across missions, accounting for similarities in duties, conditions, cost of living, and security environments.
The unified approach replaces a previous system of multiple mission-specific regulations, ensuring fairness and consistency in financial support for personnel serving abroad.
