Who set the flag on fire?
It remains unclear who and how will be punished for burning the flag. So far, only the president of the Movement for neutrality, Marko Milacic, gave a statement to the Police Department of Cetinje, admitting that he was present at the scene of the incident. It is not known whether he participated in setting the NATO flag on fire.
Milacic first ignored the order to come to PD Cetinje for hearing and pubicly told the Ministry to “come find him” if they have questions. When police yesterday visited him in his apartment, Milacic said he was present when the flag burned, but did not answer whether he is among the culprits for this incident. Instead, he said “that is for the NATO and the Government of Montenegro to establish”.
On his Facebook profile, Milacic posted a police report from the hearing which says he came to Cetinje with some friends to see for himself the effects that NATO invitation had on the city. He said he was “pleasantly surprised” to see the flag burn.
“All present company was pleasantly surprised by the unusual scene in which the flag of a warmongering Alliance was burning, the flag which has no place either in Montenegro or in Cetinje, nor in the place of our Crusaiders’ flag. Therefore: I was honored to be part of a group of free people, who were at the time present at the scene”, Milacic said to police.
He said NATO and the Government of Montenegro should establish whether he set the flag on fire, refusing to answer whether he saw who did it.
It remains unknown whether more persons will be heard on the matter because the police haven’t yet officially commented on the case.
