The fire on the Prokletije mountain extinguished

The fires that broke out on the territory of the Prokletije national park on 2 August were localised on Thursday night. The fires were not easy to put under control because of an inaccessible terrain.

The sites of Hrid and Ribljak caught fire. The area of about 1 hectare around the Hrid lake was burning. The fire at the Ribljak location affected the area of ​​1 are within the national park.

Officers of the Civil Rescue and Protection Service, Plav Fire-fighting unit and the Forest Administration were engaged in fire fighting. The protection service of the Prokletije national park will monitor the situation on the ground.

It called on all visitors and beneficiaries of this protected natural area to behave responsibly towards the overall values ​​of the park. In this period of exceptionally high temperatures, the citizens are asked to restrain from setting fires, throwing cigarette butts and bringing easily flammable materials into the national park.
