The wildfire that swept through the Lustica hills yesterday reached villages and gutted a house, endangering many others and infrastructure. Today the wind has stopped and fires on the coast are under control.
The magnitude of yesterday’s fire on Montenegro coast is best illustrated by the images made by satellites of the US space agency NASA.
These images show a huge cloud of smoke spreading almost to the Italian coast.
Several fires are currently active in the central and southern regions of Montenegro. As announced by the Interior Ministry’s Emergency Situations Directorate, the fire on the Lustica peninsula is under control, but there is a possibility of evacuation of the population again.
