First snow: Kolasin, Andrijevica, Plav and Gusinje without electricity

This morning Bijelo Polje, Zabljak, Berane, Rozaje, Plav, Andrijevica, Gusinje, Petnjica, Mojkovac, Kolasin, and Pljevlja have been blanketed by the first snow.

However, it has brought problems as well. This morning, consumers in Kolasin, Andrijevica, Plav and Gusinje have been without power supply. As the Montenegrin Power Distribution System (CEDIS) told CdM, the company’s crews are on the ground.

“Due to a severe storm, snowfall and strong wind that hit the area, certain problems at the power distribution grid in the northern part of Montenegro have arisen. CEDIS crews have been on the sites where power distribution is interrupted trying to remove faults at the energy facilities. The company will timely inform the public about the situation,” CEDIS said.

In Bijelo Polje, last night the rain turned into snow, which caused joy this morning both among children and adults.

Although meteorologists have forecasted a fall in temperature and snow in the north, it seems that the locals are surprised.

Similar situation is in Rozaje as well. A large amount of snow fell in Zabljak – as much as 33cm high.

According to the Cetinje radio, the Lovcen mountain is also under snow.

The snow has reached about 10cm on Lovcen and surrounding hills.

The temperature in Cetinje dropped from yesterday’s 20 to 7 degrees Celsius today.

According to the Hydrometeorological Institute, it will be cloudy in Montenegro today, with occasional rain, showers and possible thunder. In the region of higher mountains on the north, there will be snow.

As of the middle of the day, the precipitation will stop in the southern regions, whereas, the precipitation is expected to stop in the north of the country at the end of the day.
