Green economy is of great importance for further sustainable development of Montenegro. It can take it to a higher level of competitiveness at this cruel market where Montenegro should find its place and fight for the profit share.
“Except for the activities aimed at generating profit, green economy also means taking care of the natural environment and social community. The emphasis of green economy should be put on the environment protection in order to reduce to minimum the negative impact on the environment”, said Radovan Pejanović, professor in the area of economy, agrarian and rural economy of the Agricultural Faculty of the University in Novi Sad.
As he says, green economy is one of the most perspective global development concepts.
“It reduces environmental risks, and enhances quality of air, land and water. It has a positive impact on food and provides health safety. All this, together with the beautiful nature of Montenegro and its tourism and agrarian potentials, brings multiple gain, even economic”, says Pejanović.
New concept of economy and new patterns are crucial for social and economic development of Montenegro.
“This concepts is in accordance with the sustainable development concept. It’s particularly important for Montenegro, a state that can be competitive in two logically connected fields: food production and tourism”, adds Pejanović.
When it comes to food, i.e. agriculture, Pejanović thinks that it is necessary to revitalize village and bring traditional and modern social functions back into it.
When it comes to the development of the northern region of Montenegro, it is necessary to be in constant search of manners to provide assistance for the people from rural areas, for their small businesses and relevant sectors in using the advantages of natural resources while improving the practices of the use thereof.
The concept of integral rural development and multi-functional agriculture will forge the path of the development of the northern and all other parts of Montenegro. We, therefore, need the new paradigm of sustainable development”, says Pejanović.
