The Director of the Institute of Public Health (IJZ), Mr. Igor Galić, told the National Broadcaster TVCG that 40 coronavirus test samples were sent to Berlin, of which 23 are suspected to be of the new strain. He pointed out that the new strain of coronavirus is spreading quickly, but that it is not more deadly.
“We must say it is only suspected. Of course, the IJZ will inform the public as soon as the results are available to us, and that should be during the next workweek until then we do not have information about it”, Mr. Galić said to TVCG.
Yesterday, CdM was the first to publish the information that the new strain of coronavirus most likely arrived in Montenegro, and that the official confirmation of the analyzed sample is expected to arrive from the laboratory in Germany.
The Institute of Public Health then issued a statement confirming the CdM reporting. They stated that in several patients infected with coronavirus, there is a suspicion of infection with the new strain, so their swab samples were sent to Germany for further analysis.
