The number of people infected with the coronavirus in Montenegro in the last two weeks has increased by about 30% compared to 14 days earlier. On the other hand, the number of deaths is about 1/4 lower. The number of hospitalized people is also smaller – about 9%, which is why the current measures remain in force. This has been stated at today’s regular press conference at the Public Health Institute (IJZ). If the epidemiological situation in Montenegro does not improve in the coming weeks, the Government of Montenegro will consider introducing the obligation to have a National Digital Covid certificate (proof of vaccination or negative PCR older than 72 hours or a rapid antigen test not older than 48 hours or evidence of illness in the last six months) for the entire public administration (the sectors of health, education, police, army…).
The IJZ director Igor Galic has referred to the WHO information, which shows that Europe is in the least favorable epidemiological situation.
“When it comes to the coverage of the immunized, so far, about 55% of adults in Montenegro have been vaccinated”, he has stated.
The IJZ has recently again urged all citizens not to hesitate anymore but to respond to the open call for immunization.
“It is also important to immunize children at the age of 12 and older with chronic diseases, as well as those who live with adults whose immunity is impaired”, Galic points out.
