Garcevic: Resolution will positively contribute to process of joining the Alliance

He thinks that it’s good that discussion about NATO and Euroatlantic integrations of Montenegro moved to parliament, and that the iniative came from parliament members, because this will contribute to upcoming dialogue about membership of Montenegro in the Alliance that is ongoing in Montenegrin society for months now.

He thinks that Resolution will contribute to clear choice of the parliament members whether they are for or against. “Majority in tha parliament that is for joining the NATO is undoubtful and very qualified and it is over 60 percent”, said Garcevic.

He said that nobody can deny that parliament members were chosen by citizens and that they were given trust based on the programs of their parties.

“I have an impression that some people who were against at the beginning are now having second thoughts and are asking for additional explanation and information in order to make the final decision”, said Garcevic.

He repeated that there is a positive atmosphere among countries members of NATO regarding the invitation to Montenegro, but that it all now depends on the “job we do at home”.

According to his words, NATO will in this matter cooperate with European Commission that is preparing the report on progress of Montenegro and that is supposed to be published in the middle of October.

“That is the best sign on how these two processes are connected and compatible”, said Garcevic.
