Gjenero: Montenegro should ignore Nikolic’s statements

Gjenero said that several Serbian politicians had the same reaction when Croatia joined NATO.

„This is where Montenegro should learn from Croatia’s mistakes and not behave like we did. Croatia often reacted nervously to some statements from Serbia, and it would be wrong for Montenegro to do so which is a factor of stability in the region with very good relations with EU and especially NATO now”, said Gjenero.

„Now it’s obvious that Nikolic is supporting parties in Montenegro who tried to disturb NATO invitation by the protests, and on the other hand he is letting his frustrations off on Montenegro because of what is happening internally in Serbia”, said Gjenero.

Asked whether Nikolic’s opinion is shared by Vuc, Gjenero said no.

„No. This has nothing to do with Montenegro. This story shows that relations between Nikolic and Vucic are more and more tense and that there are big differences, and this is confrontation of prorussians and proeuroeans. As the negotiations of Serbia for EU membership go further, so will the isolation rhetorics from Nikolic which will become more agressive and especially directed towards Kosovo and Republic of Srpska, but also at Montenegro from time to time”, concluded Gjenero.
