In today’s session, councilors of the Municipality of Tuzi will discuss putting up memorial for Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg. The monument is supposed to be put up at the plateau of the “Đerđ Kastriot Skenderbeg” school in Zatrijepač.
The monument is planned to be made of bronze, in the shape of bust, 120 centimeters high. The width of the chest would be 45 centimeters, and the width of shoulders would be 80 centimeters. Pedestal would be 140 centimeters high and 80 centimeters wide.
Proposal for Decision says that the frontal part of the monument will carry the inscription: Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeu 1045-1468, Đerđ Kastrioti Skenderbeg.
Funds for the monument will be provided by the “Trieshi” foundation form NYC. Elementary school “Đerđ Kastritoi Skenderbeg” will be in charge of the maintenance of the monument. The monument will be erected by the end of this year.
Representative of Albanian alternative announced the erection of this monument last year. They said that it would increase awareness of freedom, cooperation and improvement of cooperation with other nations living in Montenegro.
Skanderbeg was a medieval nobleman, a member of feudal Kastrioti family which was in control of central Albania and East Macedonia from the middle of XIV to the middle of XV century.
He is an all-time symbol for Albanians.
