Cetinje monastery is not an ordinary monastery and it’s not just a monastery, it’s a pillar, a cornerstone of the state of Montenegro where the metropolitans who were the heads of our state used to sit, and it’s a symbol that will forever be in the minds of Montenegrins. Joanikije Micovic’s enthronement was a symbolic act of the Serbian Church to try to show that Montenegro is subdued and it’s why resistance happened in Cetinje, prof. Nebojsa Vucinic, a professor at the University of Montenegro and ex-judge of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, said in an interview for Pobjeda daily.
He warned of a dissolving role of the Serbian Church not only in Montenegro but in the entire region, which, as he says, wishes to subdue the people and make them follow its orders without resistance.
“In a political sense, the ideal is to have the so-called eastern despotism in the new Vucic-Putin form”.
He was in Cetinje on 4-5 September and is convinced that the decision on Micovic’s enthronement in the Cetinje monastery and a brutal police action “was made by someone else, someone outside Montenegro”.
“I cannot assume whether it was made in the offices of Vucic’s regime or the Moscow security services,” he added.
