At today’s cabinet meeting, the Government of Montenegro dismissed the Inspector General of the National Security Agency (ANB), Artan Kurti, PM Milojko Spajic confirmed.
He said that instead of Kurti, the Government had not appointed anyone yet.
Unofficially, all members of the Spajic’s Government voted for the dismissal of Artan Kurti.
Kurti was appointed to that position on 26 July 2022.
The appointment of Kurti caused harsh criticism, because he was convicted twice – as a juvenile, Kurti was sentenced to 10 months for wounding Rikardo Oros; as an adult, he was sentenced once again for causing serious bodily injury and illegal possession of a weapon, also to 10 months in prison.
Former PM Dritan Abazovic claimed earlier that there was nothing in the criminal record related to Kurti.
“That is the only relevant thing”, Abazovic said in July 2022.
