The Ministry of Finance has put up for public debate the draft law on solidarity contribution, based on which Montenegro plans to introduce the additional tax for all companies whose revenues have exceeded €5 million this year and in 2022.
According to Vijesti daily, all companies that are taxpayers, based on the Law on Corporate Profit Tax, will have to pay a solidarity contribution to the state – a tax on the extra profit which the ministry plans to introduce as a temporary crisis measure for two years.
The ministry decided to propose that law so that companies which gained extra profit during the economic crisis – thanks to the government’s measures providing numerous incentives – now may demonstrate the solidarity thus enabling the government to create new packages of help for citizens.
The public debate will last until 20 March.
