Currently there’s no official data on the exact number of empty flats in Montenegro, but according to the 2011 data of the Statistical Office of Montenegro, MONSTAT, there were around 59,000 empty flats in MNE.

It’s high time the Government implemented a policy which is to restrict the construction of apartments for the sake of the balanced development of northern and southern region of Montenegro, noted Predrag Drecun, an economic analyst.

He said: “We are certain that currently there are over 300,000 condominiums in Montenegro, which indicates the fact the country has more condominiums than households.”

Drecun believes that one of the effective measures for balanced development would be the motorway construction as well as the affirmation of the project referring to the economic citizenship, which might bring investments in the northern region before the central and southern one.
