Grange: Montenegrin experts work at high level

Vincent Grange

The most demanding section of the Bar-Boljare highway will be finished next year, according to the notices. Chief   Supervision Engineer, Vincent Grange, says that one of the particularities of this project is that all subjects involved cooperate closely at constructive meetings.

“This is of crucial importance for “mega projects”, where one single problem might provoke multiple consequences. Majority of the works on the road is interconnected. Therefore, it’s an everyday challenge trying not to change the completion deadline”, said Mr Grange.

Asked about how many workers are engaged in his team, how many local workers and whether he is satisfied with the Montenegrin staff in that regard, Mr Grange says that there are 50 of them.

“Our team counts 50 persons, inclusive of 30 local persons. We are glad to have chosen local members mostly, at the very beginning of this project. We are very glad that we are able to work with experts, professional people, and that we can easily maintain that team spirit within our cosmopolitan group. We organize training sessions dedicated to multiple specificity of the project. We are all getting experience from the exchange of knowledge and different practices”, said Grange.

Mr Grange explains that the task of the supervisory authority reflects in performing professional construction supervision over the processes of the implementation of an infrastructure project. In this specific case, the engineer is managing the execution of the Design and Construction Contract signed between the investor and the contractor with the aim of assuring quality, costs control and timing. Many activities are included: supervision over the works, granting materials and equipment, technical documentation, analysis of the progress made and so much more.

First man of the supervision says that the French consultant Ingerop acts in this project, along with the Italian Geodat.

“In the Balkans region, Ingerop was the engineer for the “New Europe Bridge” that connects Bulgaria and Romania over the Danube river. In 2019, Ingerop’s turnover will exceed €250 million thanks to current projects being carried out in 40 countries”, says Grange.

“This project is the greatest project in Montenegro and, at the same time, it’s the first  lump sum contract ever. Since this is the first experience of CRBC and Ingerop in Montenegro, the picture of the challenge we must overcome is clear”, points out Grange.

CRBC company is carrying out works with relevant quality control.

“Ingerop has extended its field of activity to Asia and thus has obtained experience with Asian actors. Ingerop also has experience with Chinese contractors in Algeria, Bangladesh and Tanzania. I should also mention current projects in India, construction of two cable bridges and tunnels”, says Mr Grange.
