Highway construction will require additional €85 million

Construction of the priority section of Bar-Boljare highway will cost around €895 million, said Minister of Transport and Maritime affairs, Mr Osman Nurković. He announced that after they sign three annexes to the contract with CBRC, additional €85 million would be spent on the construction.

Replying to the question asked by DF member, Mr Slaven Radunović, Mr Nurković said that the realization of the project was followed by responsible and dedicated work, in accordance with the regulations.

Additional works on the highway will cost around €85 million, which is by 10% higher than the projected price.

Minister said that construction of the first phase of the Smokovac loop would cost €33 million, construction of the water supply system would cost €14, 2 million and permanent electricity supply of Moračica bridge would cost €4,8 million.

Mr Radunović said that the price of a kilometer of highway was the highest in Europe – €25 million per kilometer.

“I am not opposing the highway construction. I just want to know why it is so expensive”, said Mr Radunović.

Mr Nurković said that this was the most demanding section in Europe.

Montenegro Airlines needs restructuring

Speaking about the situation in Montenegro Airlines, Minister said that the company could survive only if it had undergone restructuring.

“They aren’t able to pay off debts. We have so many reasons to help this company survive”, said Mr Nurković.
