If the EU fails to accelerate enlargement process, it will create room for third countries

Nikola Rakoćević

If Europe fails to accelerate enlargement process, it will create room for third states, the ones that don’t share our European values and have their own legitimate intention to exert strong influence on the WB countries, said DPS member, Mr Nikola Rakočević.

Mr Rakočević met in Brussels with the new Commissioner for enlargement, Mr Olivér Várhelyi, who said that it would be wise to change the rules of the game.

Mr Rakočević said that Montenegro was committed to fulfilling requirements of the negotiation process and that it was very consistent with its intention to become full-fledged EU Member State.

Mr Rakočević asked Mr Várhelyi if the negotiation methodology concerning Serbia and Montenegro would remain the same.

Mr Várhelyi said that there was full consensus among EU Member States that EU enlargement was a priority.
