Macroeconomic situation in Montenegro is pretty favorable, said the previous head of the IMF mission to Montenegro, Martin Petri who is in his official visit to our country within the IMF Staff Mission.
“Congratulations on the economic growth. We honestly hope that you will exceed the projected growth rate of 2,8% for 2019”, said Petri during the meeting with the Ministry of Finance, Darko Radunović.
Radunović pointed out that, during 2017 and 2018, stability of public finances was strengthened and economic growth considerably enhanced.
“Data from December of 2018 indicate that in comparison to December of 2017 more people have been employed”, said Radunović.
Two main macroeconomic indicators – budget deficit and public debt – are kept under control.
“This year will be the year of public debt going down and reduction of budget deficit. We will keep implementing measures of fiscal consolidation”, said Radunović.
Starting from today, until 27 February, talks between the representatives of the Ministry of Finance and IMF will be on.
