Food inspectors prevented import of more than 36,000 kilograms of lemons in which a dangerous pesticide was found, the report on the work of the inspection services of the Directorate for Food Safety and Phytosanitary Affairs says.
During October, out of the total number of imported consignments examined, 12 consignments of food of plant origin with a total weight of 87.489kg were banned from importing due to the established non-compliance with the prescribed safety requirements. These consignments were either destroyed or returned to suppliers.
