In memoriam: Lovcen mountain race for Franjo Kunčer

 

This year’s 32nd edition of one of the most prestigious races in the region will be held on July 11-12th, with the participation of many motorists from Montenegro and abroad.

The race, which was part of this year’s program “Summer in the old capital”, shall be scored for the Central – European Zone (CEZ) on mountain trails, and just as importantly – will be held under the auspices of the World Automobile Federation (FIA).

This year’s Mountain Car Race “Lovcen”, by decision of the organizers, will be devoted to the champion of the track, the legendary Montenegrin motorist Franjo Kunčer, who died this week.

The trail on mountain Lovcen, 12.2 kilometers long, is one of the most demanding races in the wider region, and represents a special challenge for all drivers. The trail has a total of 165 curves. As already mentioned, the owner of the record is Franjo Kunčer with time 07: 40.504.

Mountain race on Lovcen will thus, once again be part of the international map of motorsports, as its tradition and importance deserve.

On Saturday, July 11th, training will be on the menu, followed by official competition in all classes, the very next day.

Over the coming days, after the next meeting of the Organizing Committee, other necessary information relating to the 32 international hill race ‘Lovcen 2015’ will be published.

The municipality of Cetinje, the Directorate of Youth and Sport and the AMC “Lovcen” invite all lovers of motorsports to visit the upcoming race, which will represent a true sporting spectacle.
