The Montefarm pharmacy says that 18,580 influenza vaccines have already been ordered and are expected to arrive by the end of this month. The vaccines are €47.379 worth.
In the first week of September, 9 cases of symptoms resembling flu were registered, the Public Health Institute (IJZ) stated.
However, the IZJ stated it could not be foreseen in this moment what the influenza season would be like.
Therefore, the institution pointed out that vaccination against influenza represented the only specific prevention measure.
World Health Organisation suggests that pregnant women and children from 6 months to 5 years old should be vaccinated, says the IZJ.
