Minister of Defense, Mrs Olivera Injac, held a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, Ms Oana Cristina Popa. The meeting was a great opportunity to exchange views on the current status of Montenegro in the EU negotiation process, Ministry reported. Ms Injac informed Ms Popa about further steps on defense sector, which will be in accordance with the obligations from NATO membership.
“Minister emphasized the importance of the participation of the members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro in international EU missions, as well as in the continuous process of the improvement of capacities and abilities of the Armed Forces for crisis management and contribution to peace and stability in the region”, the statement said.
Ms Popa expressed satisfaction with the meeting and gave her positive impressions about Montenegro’s overall progress in the EU negotiations.
Interlocutors touched on the COVID-19 pandemic, which is the biggest global challenge in the last several decades. They agreed that coronavirus pandemic requires solidarity of all states.
The minister thanked the European Union for its assistance to Montenegro and the entire Western Balkans region, in order to mitigate the effects of the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, including donations to the sectors most affected by the crisis and the most vulnerable.
