Interior Ministry to form a domestic violence fighting team

In the upcoming period, the Domestic Violence Fighting Team will be established, interior minister Melvudin Nuhodzic announced during a meeting with representatives of NGOs dealing with domestic violence.

As announced at the meeting, in addition to police officers, the team will consists of representatives of the civil sector and other competent institutions. It will work on determining further guidelines for acting and improving the work and results in the prevention and suppressing domestic violence through consideration of the current practice and analysis of concrete cases.

The goal of the meeting, as stated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is to determine the modalities for improving the cooperation, as well as to analyse methods of work and actions in cases of reported domestic violence.

In addition to Nuhodzic, the meeting was also attended by the head of Police Directorate Slavko Stojanovic and the assistant director for the criminal police sector Enis Bakovic, as well as the director of the Centre for Women’s Rights Maja Raicevic and the director of the SOS Hotline for Women and Children Victims of Violence Natasa Medjedovic.
