Religious education should not be part of the education system in Montenegro, Ms Božana Jelušić, member of URA, said in Klub A TV show. She reasoned that her basic and primary goal of the school was development of critical thinking while religion “does not support that but authority and “belief in what is”.
“I think that it is legitimate right of every family, to direct their kids, but religious education absolutely should not be part of the education system. Only Slovenia and Montenegro have managed to preserve their education systems,” Ms Jelušić explained.

She believes that religious education can be taught if children’s families feel the need for it, but it should not be part of the education system.
“There’s no doubt that the religious impulse is so strong, but the religion should be left to intimacy,” she said.
Ms Jelušić added that back in 1990s, she didn’t have impression that churches and religious communities were suppressed.
She added that religion is an intimate need.
