Jokic defrauded the state and those who voted for him?

Judicial system of Montenegro is now set to decide whether mayor of Kotor Vladimir Jokic defrauded the state, public, voters and his party, when he became a candidate and then mayor of Kotor whilst holding a Serbian passport.

According to our Constitution and laws, Montenegrin citizens who took Serbian citizenship after June 3rd 2006, automatically loses Montenegrin citizenship. Jokic received Serbian citizenship in 2013, but failed to report that fact.

In July, Jokic offered a certificate of Serbian Ministry of Interior claiming he was not on the list of citizens. However, the Basic State Prosecution has little use for that document. The question is not whether he is a citizen now, the question is whether he was a Serbian national when he announced his candidacy.

There is little doubt Jokic defrauded the state. Serbian Ministry of Interior issued a certificate on May 17th of this year, that clearly states Jokic was a citizen who applied for passport in 2011 and received it in 2013.
