According to the police, Radulovic is suspected of taking advantage of poor financial conditions of the fellow citizen Zoran Radovic in the period from March 2014 until the arrest, lending him €35,000 at so-called “loan-sharking” interest rate of 5%.
This means that the exorbitant monthly interest amounted to €1.750.
“It is suspected that paying the debt off was accompanied by threats and the request for taking out a mortgage loan on the apartment of Zoran Radovic,” the police said.
Under the prosecutor’s order, criminal charges are filed against Marko Radulovic on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of usury
“The deputy basic public prosecutor in Podgorica ordered keeping him into the detention until appearing before the investigative judge of the Basic Court in Podgorica”, the police reported.
The Minister of Interior, Rasko Konjevic, said that the police was collecting information against 39 persons suspected of being engaged in usury.
Mr Konjevic admitted that usury was a big problem in Montenegro, noting that the situation was caused by the fact that the victims did not want to report the crime.
