Kacin: Vučić’s constant returns to past slow progress

Kacin

In an interview with Pobjeda daily, permanent representative of Slovenia to NATO, the European Parliament former member and rapporteur on Serbia, Mr Jelko Kacin, noted that Belgrade and its relations with Pristina, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Skopje would determine Brussel’s orientation towards the Western Balkans.

Speaking about the perspective of the Western Balkan countries, Mr Kacin told their future will depend on Serbia’s president, Aleksandar Vučić.

“As for the Western Balkan countries, their destiny depend on Vučić’s orientation, i.e. whether he is going to opt for the future of Serbia or the continuous return to the past and mythology,” said ambassador Kacin.

For years, he emphasized, “we have been waiting for Belgrade to commit to the future of Serbia”.

According to him, “good news from the region” represents “a must” in the context of the EU enlargement.
