Kašćelan: We want Cetinje to be as citizens want it

Kašćelan

From the business aspect, one year is a very short period of time for achieving the expected success. It is, however, adequate period for understanding the situation and making decisions regarding the development of the town. I am satisfied, regardless of everything. We have consolidated our finances, made considerable savings, avoided new debts and we have even managed to pay part of our debts, says the mayor of Cetinje, Aleksandar Kašćelan.

Kašćelan started serving this function at the end of last year. The biggest obstacle in achieving objectives is the “bureaucratized and a slow system at national and local level, system that wastes time on numerous procedures, that we are obliged to abide to”.

Ever since his term of office, they have been focused on the consolidation of finances. Their further plans include an ambitious agenda of infrastructure projects that should improve the life quality of citizens and provide stimulus for the economic development of Cetinje.

“Construction of football stadium, is a capital project for us, the major investment. Also, reconstruction of the town water supply system is another important investment, worth €4,6 million. We will invest additional €750.000 for the reconstruction of distribution pipeline Velja Gora-Lašor so that we can finally and successfully solve the problem of water supply”, says Kašćelan.

He added that last year they had provides considerable support to “Danilo I” hospital by provision of new medical equipment and handling many-year long problems.

“This year, reconstruction of the old children’s hospital is our priority. We’ll also invest considerable funds in the improvement of local and uncategorized roads. We are working hard on creating new tourism offer, by putting emphasis on manifestation tourism and by introducing the biggest regional music and gastronomic festival, “Montenegro Beer Fest”, added Kašćelan.

Creation of new jobs is the greatest challenge.

“Buying “Obod” opens possibilities for new business partners, and, thus, possibilities for employment. Our objective is to value economic, tourism and cultural potentials of Cetinje as mush as we can”, says Kašćelan.
