Chief special prosecutor Mlivoje Katnic presented in Parliament Special Prosecutor’s Office’s (SDT) results achieved last year. He said the results were exceptionally positive. As an example, he mentioned that the Office conducted 17 investigations in only five months, Dnevne Novine writes.
Commenting on some criticism of his and SDT’s work in the past couple of days, Katnic said that all the citizens were equal before the Office.
“Since the Office was established, its main purpose has been to fight high profile corruption. It has resulted in arresting high-ranking officials. Representatives of the ruling party in a coastal municipality have been arrested, as well as one whole family. However, when SDT started to deal with other political entities, ie their members suspected of committing serious crimes, the allegations that the Office does not act according to the Constitution and laws have appeared,” Katnic said.
He stressed that SDT was prosecuting offenders, not members of political parties or any other national or political structure.
