“Special State Prosecutor’s Office has launched a preliminary investigation as to the existence of grounds for suspicion of a criminal offense of attempted terrorism, to the detriment of the Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic”, Chief Special Prosecutor Milovoje Katnić said for Dnevne Novine.
The information on suspected assassination of the Prime Minister from late 2007 and early 2008 has long been hidden from the public eye, despite the report submitted to the prosecutor’s office a few years ago by a former officer of the Agency for National Security, Vasilije Mijovic.
Almost eight years later, Katnic pulled the case out of the drawer and personally began checking Mijovic’s allegations that former Interior Minister Andrija Jovicevic personally asked him to organize the murder of Djukanovic on behalf of then high-ranking Serbian politicians.
According to reliable information obtained by Dnevne Novine daily, prosecutor Katnić recently interviewed Mijovic, who allegedly described who was directly or indirectly involved in the planning of the terrorist act, as well as an enormous sum of money, which was supposed to be used for that purpose.
Former Interior Minister Andrija Jovicevic has so far not been interrogated in the Special State Prosecutor’s Office, nor is he located in Montenegro. Information on the alleged hearing of Jovicevic was first reported by the Serbian newspaper Informer, despite the official response that this information is not correct, said Katnić.
The media recently reported Jovicevic is the most likely candidate for the new leader of the Democratic Front. However, he has not publicly declared about it yet. The seat of the president of the DF remains open after Miodrag Lekic in March this year abandoned the political group and formed Demos.
