Construction and accumulation of “Komarnica” hydro power plant will not jeopardize Nevidio canyon, Šavnik or tourist amenities of this area, Detailed spatial plan for the area of multi-purpose accumulation on Komarnica river.
Due to the doubts of the public, Dnevne novine published parts of a comprehensive Detailed Spatial Plan.
The Government has given up on 816 m of the elevation of normal deceleration as such accumulation would put Nevidio canyon and Šavnik into danger.
Instead, Government opted for 811 m of altitude.
A Great part of the flow of Komarnica and Pridvorice will turn into an artificial lake with almost 14 km in length and almost 17 km towards Šavnik.
For the adopted 811 meters of altitude, the volume of accumulation is 3,8 cubic meters. Therefore, putting the river into a tube is out of consideration.
A 171 meter- high dam
“Komarnica” hydro power plant will be an upstream stair of “Piva” hydro power plant and will produce around 209,5 GWh of electricity.
The dam of the hydro power plant is planned to be constructed in Lonci, the narrow part of the Komarnica canyon, 45 km upstream from the existing dam of “Piva”.
The concrete dam of the future “Komarnica” hydro power plant will be located in a very narrow “V” profile of the canyon, and will be 171 meters high.
The accumulation will be formed from the partition part of the dam and will encompass mid flow of Komarnica, Mala Komarnica and Pridvorica river, which is 56% of the Piva basin.
Plans are afoot for the construction of an access road.
Construction of a hydro power plant is a very complex construction undertaking which requires strict adherence to geology.
The pre-calculation is estimated at €246,53 million. The installed capacity of the facility is 170 mega watts.
Komarnica hydro power plant will be super profitable. It could be put into operation in 2025.
