Zeljko Komnenovic, a member of the Tender Commission for the concession procedure for Podgorica and Tivat airports and Mayor of Tivat, has resigned from the commission following a Government amendment to the Law on Local Government Financing.
The amendment reduces the municipalities’ share of income from concession fees for goods of general interest, such as the airport, from 70% to 20%.
Komnenovic has expressed dissatisfaction with the inadequate concession compensation offered, dating back to 2018, and raised concerns about the fate of 50,000 square meters of municipal property.
He has emphasized that the Municipality of Tivat remains open to cooperation with the Government, but urged the Government to abandon the amendment to allow municipalities to generate income as per existing legal frameworks.
