Defense Minister Krapovic offered his interpretation of the wars of the 1990s and the crimes committed in those blessed days. He said that the Morinj camp was not a consequence of the Great Serbian aggression, but of the war in Yugoslavia.

Somehow at the same time, synchronicity or coordination, who knows, not far from the Morinj camp, at the Tivat waterfront, Baja Mali Knindja was performing as a playback singer (as they said in the cult Belgrade film How Rock and Roll Failed: “Are you a ninja or are you a minja”). Baja is to the Serb Republic, Krajina and Greater Serbian nationalism what Hendrix was to Woodstock, flower power and the ideology of peace in the world – its brand ambassador. The performer of the lyrics – “When I was little, I knew my direction, they were Catholics and I was Orthodox… they sang “Lepa Nasa” (*Our Beautiful Homeland, Croatian national anthem) and I sang “Boze Pravde” (*God of Justice, Serbian National Anthem) – performed on Catholic Christmas.
The minister claims that the camp is a consequence of the war in Yugoslavia. And the war in Yugoslavia is a consequence of what? The minister suggests that it is not a consequence of the Great Serbian aggression against Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Rather, war is a consequence of war. Hence the Morinj camp is a consequence of the war. Krapovic suddenly appears as a disciple of Heraclitus the Dark, who claimed that war was the father of everything.
Auschwitz, therefore, is not a consequence of Nazism, but of war. When a drunk driver kills a child on the street, the child’s death is not the result of the drunk driver’s negligence, but the result of the car hitting the body. When a husband kills his wife with a gun, her death is the result of the gunshot. Krapovic’s logic according to which the consequence is also the cause of the consequence (the driver hit the child with a car because he was drunk, and the result of drunkenness was careless driving; but the child’s death did not occur because of the driver’s drunkenness, but was the result of a car crash), if applied to the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, is devastating for the SNP ideology, which gave birth to Krapovic (and Milatovic, after all). According to that logic, namely, the cause of the death of civilians killed in NATO bombing is not American imperialism, violation of international law and targeting of civilian targets, as taught by SNP, but simply: Yugoslavia’s war against NATO.
So on and so forth.
Krapovic does not answer the question of the cause of the war in the former Yugoslavia directly, but he answers clearly, by amnestying the Greater Serbian state project. The war was because it was a war, Krapovic is usefully unclear. He adds: the cause of the Morinj camp, and the wave of the war, was not even Greater Montenegrin nationalism. It is as if you prove the thesis that the cause of the Second World War was not Nazism by saying that the cause was also not the nationalism of the people of Eritrea.
Let’s go back to Krapovic’s claim: the war was not because Belgrade tried to make Great Serbia. The war was because it was a war. It’s called a tautology. And it is cyclical. And worthless as a logical proof. Because tautology implies that a statement is proved by repeating it. For example: “Good is what is good”; “It is as it is”. The theologians would say, “God is God.” The most popular tautology in Montenegro is Negos’s: “There is no resurrection without death”. When that statement is rephrased like this “If you rose from the dead, that means you were dead”, it sounds like something Grunf from “Alan Ford” would say.
At one time, “Monitor” published a particularly stupid text by an author whose name I cannot remember. I asked the editor at the time, Zeko Vojicic, why he allowed such nonsense to be published. “People should be allowed to put themselves to shame”, he said.
This is also the answer to why Krapovic and most members of the new elite should be encouraged to speak publicly as often as possible: people should be allowed to put themselves to shame.
There were many causes of the war in the former Yugoslavia, and one of them, and the most important of them, was Great Serbian nationalism. The crimes committed by the citizens of Montenegro at that time were committed in the name of the ideology of Great Serbian nationalism. Roma also participated in the attack on Dubrovnik, so it was not a Roma crime, but a Great Serbian crime: just like the camp in Morinj.
The crimes that were committed in the name of that nationalism were not the result of the fact that it was a war, but of the fact that the plan for the creation of Great Serbia entailed the detailed design and execution of crimes, which were part of a military and political strategy. There are judgments of international courts and heaps of evidence about this.
Here is a quote from the transcript of the tape recording of the XVI session of the Assembly of the Serbian People in Bosnia and Herzegovina, held on 12 May 1992, in Banja Luka. Radovan Karadzic, Momcilo Krajisnik and Ratko Mladic were present. At the meeting, the plan on systematic crimes in Eastern Bosnia was precisely presented.
At one point, disgusted by what he heard, Ratko Mladic said:
“According to that, we cannot cleanse, nor can we have a sieve to sift so that only Serbs remain or so that Serbs fail and others leave. So, that’s it, that won’t happen, I don’t know how Mr. Krajisnik and Mr. Karadzic will explain it to the world. People, it is a genocide”.
Krapovic can say nothing to save the face of Great Serbian nationalism. But he can hurt his own. God gives scope to a hardworking man.
