Krapovic for CdM: Temporary facilities to be removed

This year we will drastically reduce the number of temporary facilities on the promenade. What we now have on the promenade is not acceptable for a modern tourist destination, Budva mayor Dragan Krapovic told CdM. He points out that Budva needs smaller four or five star hotels up to 3,000 square meters. He also says the city administration will address waste disposal issue as well as a number of infrastructure issues.

Krapovic claims his administration will change the image of the Budva promenade.

“We will reduce the number of temporary facilities on the promenade, but I must say, only from the side that is in our jurisdiction (the part towards the city). We cannot influence what will happen with the part towards the coast. The Ministry of Tourism and Sustainable Development has a valid plan that regulates this issue. The current minister has announced that he will make a new five year plan that will address the issue of temporary facilities, which will be valid as of 2019,” Budva mayor said.

He explains that there must be temporary facilities on the promenade, but only those that serve to complement what the city does not have, or to deal with things that are exclusively related to the tourist season.

“It’s not a good idea to jeopardise hospitality facilities, hotels that work 12 months a year, pay taxes, hire people, by allowing unfair competition with these temporary facilities where food and beverages are prepared, as the Food Safety Administration will tell you, in an inadequate way and contrary to regulations,” the mayor is clear.
