On July 30th, SDP sent a request to Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic for dismissal of two ministers who left the party after the SDP Congress.
Krivokapic told reporters in Niksic the ruling party is informed about SDP’s decisions and expected to “act in accordance with the coalition agreement”, reports MINA.
“I don’t believe anyone would dare take political corruption at the local level, for example Podgorica, and move it to the government. So I expect fulfillment of obligations as an additional contribution to the NATO integration of Montenegro”, Krivokapic said stressing all obligations must be fulfilled in a timely fashion.
Asked whether he expects a positive progress report of the European Commission, especially in the area of organized crime and the fight against high-level corruption, Krivokapic said he thinks a new type of report will be made, in which Montenegro will be compared to other countries in the region.
“In some areas we have an advantage, in some we are lagging behind. I expect that the new procedures launched by the new Supreme State Prosecutor and Special the Special Prosecutor will have their measurable results in completely legal procedures and according to expected standards”, said Krivokapic.
Asked whether Montenegro’s progress in meeting the criteria is good enough for receiving the membership invitation, he said this decision is yet to be made.
“We are expecting the finish of the race in recent months, and some of it is certainly the respect of coalition agreements. Results mush be shown in all areas. Stability of a country is reflected in the rule of law, human freedoms and freedom of the media, not just the stability of the Government”, said Krivokapic.
Commenting if this means the survival of the ruling coalition at the state level before regular elections, he said that this decision depends on whether DPS fulfills their obligations or not, stressing that the two parties should work together.
“Our priority is NATO, but there are many paths to reaching this goal”, said Krivokapic adding that if DPS does not accept their request, they will not be able to “close their eyes”.
“Nobody can turn a blind eye to the disregard of signatures and commitments. It is a signal that, if you cannot comply with your internal duties, then you cannot do it at the international level either”, said Krivokapic.
