A hearing in the case launched by the Budva-based Mega Promet company against the Municipality of Budva and several companies was held yesterday before Kotor court. The lawsuit was filed in order to establish the nullity of several contracts. The value of the dispute is €1.6m.

In the capacity of witnesses, two former Budva mayors Rajko Kuljaca and Lazar Radjenovic were brought from the Spuz prison, where they serve their sentences. Although Kuljaca was supposed to testify in this proceeding, he did not do it yesterday. As he explained, he was granted cooperative witness status in the same case before the Special Prosecutor’s Office, Dnevne Novine writes.

“I cannot give statement before this court, because I have signed a contract, and I do not want to lose that status, although I would have a few words to say,” Kuljaca said.

The owner of Mega Promet, Miodrag Mitrovic, said that at the end of 2009, AMD Budva representative Marko Vujovic suggested that he talk to Kuljaca on taking over the land in Jaz in order to compensate the municipality’s debt to his company.

The trial continues on 29 November.
