“In addition to the themes of legislation and the need for its full implementation, the agenda provides for consideration of the legal-political model to govern and manage the next election cycle. The formation of a transitional government is the best model to manage this process, and it is a common position of all opposition entities. This is why Demos will come to the meeting, to repeat and publicly argument such requests. Should the current, technical government reject these proposals, which are in the best interest to mitigating today’s deep, stability-risking crisis in Montenegro, then Djukanovic and his party will take responsibility for further developments in the already very tense political situation in the country”, said Lekic.
He added the meeting won’t be held within any of the bodies of the Assembly, but in a new form, which suggests that the classic institutional forms have been exhausted, and even largely compromised due to previous boycotts. He believes it is imperative that the meeting is also attended by representatives of NGOs and the EU.
“Let’s not forget that the electoral laws got adopted only after the stronger influence of the EU, which made DPS finally vote for this set of regulations. We do not expect, and we said this to EU representatives, that they participate as mediators between warring factions somewhere in the Middle East, but, logically, to be part of the most important political process at this moment in Montenegro. After all, EU is engaged in the election process and scandal “Snimak” very extensively and very critically in their Progress Report on Montenegro. Therefore, a public dialogue with a wider participation of democratic actors will not be ignored, but we will use it to fight for solutions and primarily, to voice requirements of the entire opposition, regarding the urgency of application of electoral laws and of formation of a transitional government”, concluded Lekic.
Mr. Krivokapic suggested to leaders of all parliamentary subjects to meet in the Assembly on December 1st, to agree on the methodology and the manner of conducting further dialogue.
