The Lidl Montenegro company, which received the urban planning and technical conditions for the preparation of technical documentation for the construction of a building in Bijelo Polje, sent a new request to the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property, seeking the consent of the chief state architect for conceptual design of the architectural project of a building in Zeta, Pobjeda reports.
Zeta mayor Mihailo Asanovic announced in April that this company had purchased land in Zeta for the construction of a retail facility, adding that Lidl plans to purchase additional 200,000 square meters for the construction of a logistics center.
This well-known German trading company expressed its intention to open its retail stores in Montenegro at the end of 2021, when, through MMS Property Solutions, connected to the founder of Lidl in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it bought 13,200 square meters of land that belonged to the former factory Radoje Dakic for €3.7m.
Apart from this, Lidl also bought 14,000 square meters behind the RTCG building, where the Bolici hotel was supposed to be built, as well as the former administration building housing the bankrupt Rudnik Boksita bauxite mining company in Niksic, bought by the Roaming Montenegro company, and then sold to Lidl.
At the end of last year, Lidl bought a plot of land in Berane for about €2m, where it is planned to demolish several temporary shops and a flea market. For this reason, the owners of those stores have repeatedly protested in recent months, demanding that the contract with this company be terminated, and that an alternative location be found for Lidl.
The Municipality of Berane indicated that the entire sale procedure was carried out in accordance with the law, that all the buildings at that location were temporary and that the tenants were obliged to remove the buildings at their own expense once the land is repurposed.
