Montenegrin citizens and businessmen are increasingly taking out loans. Namely, newly-approved loans in the first half of the year amounted to €824.5m, which is an annual growth of 28.3%, of which loans to businesses amounted to €392.7m (a 18.9% growth), while citizens borrowed €396m (a 48.9% growth), according to the Monthly Macroeconomic Report for July.
According to these data, total loans amounted to €4.48bn at the end of June 2024 and achieved an annual growth of 12.5%. Loans to the economy recorded a growth of 10.6%, while loans to households increased by 12.3%.
“The net profit of Montenegrin banks in June 2024 amounted to €87.2m, which is 31.4% more compared to June 2023,” the Report states.
In June 2024, a growth of 2.1% in total deposits was recorded, when they amounted to €5.38bn.
“In the sixth month of 2024, a total of 20,625 debtors were blocked, while the total debt on the basis of which the accounts were blocked amounted to €1.27bn and recorded an annual growth of 18.5%,” the Report emphasizes.
