Voters in Montenegro head to the polls today in local elections being held in Berane and Ulcinj. 43,500 citizens have right to vote.
Polling stations opened at 7am and will close at 8pm. Berane opened 56 polling stations for its citizens, whereas Ulcinj opened 37.
Local elections in these municipalities are of crucial importance, bearing in mind the forthcoming presidential elections, which are to be held on April 15.
The ruling coalition at the state level and the opposition are waiting for the local election results in order to nominate candidates who are to run for the country’s presidency.
