MA: Contract was signed according to applicable legislation

The contract between Montenegro Airlines (MA) and the MD Solution company was signed pursuant to the legal regulations and decisions of the MA Executive Committee, the national airline stated.

Regarding media reports related to the business activities of the company, MA explained that the contract had been signed on the basis its Executive Committee’s decisions made on 20 February 2015, in accordance with the committee’s statutory authority.

“The conclusion and implementation of this contract represents a part of the regular activities of the company and by its nature it does not deserve the provided media attention. Particularly not in a negative context,” the statement said.

The subject of the contract is, as they said, MD Solution’s consulting support to establish a strategic commercial cooperation with Etihad Airways in stages.

MA said that the consultant had partly implemented contract and paid according to the implementation degree.

It added that any change in the ownership status of the company was not defined by the contract, which is not within the competencies either of the Executive Committee or the company CEO.

According to Dnevne Novine newspaper, Special Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation against MA executive director Zivko Banjevic and another seven people. Allegedly, they concluded an onerous contract with the MD Solution consultancy company back in 2015.

As prosecutor’s office said, the preliminary investigation in the case is ongoing.
