The New Serb Democracy’s (NOVA) assembly at which Andrija Mandic is to be re-elected as the party president will be held on 11 May in Podgorica, the party official Milutin Djukanovic confirmed for Dnevne Novine newspapers.
“The session will be held on 11 May and we will elect Mandic for the president, as well as the new party leadership. The session will be held in Podgorica (in the former government’s headquarter building) and a part of the session will be open to the public,” he said.
Previous session was held on 11 May 2013. Then, 235 out of 241 assembly members voted for Mandic. There were two votes against and four invalid votes. Compared to the last session, the composition of the NOVA’s assembly has been considerably changed. Goran Danilovic, former Mandic’s deputy, is now a Demos member. Miodrag Lekic, who then said that NOVA had a clear national direction, bur that he “learned a lot about the history of Montenegro from the party members”, is Demos leader now.
NOVA was founded in 1998 as Serb People’s Party. New Serb Democracy was created in 2009 by transforming the former Serbian List. Mandic has been its president since it was founded.
