Duško Marković

Even in times of crisis, Montenegro is developing and growing, with over 3.000 workers on construction sites across the country, said Mr Duško Marković, Montenegro’s Prime Minister.

“The Government doesn’t want to suspend any investment. Investment in development is the best remedy for economic crisis. We should save on other segments, but not a euro on development projects”, Mr Marković said.

He reminded of some serious results of the Government achieved over the past three and a half years.

“Three years of complete stability, financial consolidation, accelerated economic growth in all sectors”, PM said.

Montenegro has been developing from the south to the north. Government has invested millions in different projects.

Mr Marković pointed out that Government’s response to the pandemic had been efficient. And while creating conditions for the protection of health, Government worked on preserving economic substance of our economy.

“With three packages of measures, Government provided different forms of incentives to employees and employers, as well as the most vulnerable groups. The first package was worth €280 million, the second was worth over €42 million and the third was worth €1,2 billion. The third package was social and developmental at the same time, created with the aim of diversifying economy, stimulating production and reducing import dependence of the country”, PM reminded.

Over €100 million investment in Pljevlja

Talking about projects in Plejvlja, Mr Marković pointed out that important projects of road infrastructure were underway. He reminded that in 2018, road from Slijepač bridge to Pljevlja had been reconstructed and said that works on the modernization of road from Vrulja to Mijakovići would be finished “in the middle of next year”.

“We currently have over €30 million of agreements in Pljevlja. Contractors are on the field, machines are working”, PM said.

PM pointed out that decision on purchasing Coal mine was great.

Mr Marković believes that ecological reconstruction of Thermal Power Plant will begin soon.

No hidden agenda behind Law on Freedom of Religion

Asked about the Law on Freedom of Religion, Mr Marković said that there “was no hidden agenda”.

PM said that SOC had entered destructive campaign against the Government. He reminded that he had talked with the Metropolitan at least ten times.

“They rejected our proposal. Because political and anti-Montenegrin interests are behind. Serbian church does not need a law and, unfortunately, it does not need Montenegro”, Mr Marković concluded.
