New 2020 Report on Montenegro is a real and objective picture of the state of play in the country regarding European integration. We have obtained clear guidelines on what we should do in order to achieve our objective – full-fledged EU membership, said Mr Duško Marković during the meeting with the head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, Ms Oana-Cristina Popa.
Mr Marković pointed out that “it is clear what the challenges are”.
“In the first place, it’s the continuation of the institutional reinforcement of the country”, Mr Marković said.
While presenting the report, Ms Popa said that some areas had recorded progress but some had no progress at all.
“This is not a political report. This is a working document that should assist Government in creating reforms”, she said.
Interlocutors agreed that the focus should be on the rule of law, judiciary, freedom of expression and strengthening competitiveness, economic and monetary policy in Montenegro.
Ms Popa said that it was essential all parties reached consensus on strategic goal – Montenegro’s EU accession.
PM said that DPS would be constructive opposition in the Parliament and would contribute to consensus on the appointment of judicial and prosecutorial functions.
