Initiative for the formation of technical Government, requested by the opposition during yesterday’s Parliament session, is legitimate but not acceptable, said Prime Minister Duško Marković.
“For me, that request is not grounded and politically unacceptable. Right now, we have got more important things to deal with. Montenegro must work on accelerating economic growth, improvement of standard and creation of new jobs”, said Marković after the meeting with the European Commissioner, Johannes Hahn.
Journalist asked Marković if Montenegro was in political crisis.
“What political crisis? The Government is functioning, the Parliament is functioning, budget is increasing. We are faced with political tension, political requests, but there’s no political crisis”, says Marković.
He says again that boycott is not a solution.
“We try hard to be a mature, responsible democracy and to secure the functionality of political system. The opposition announced that they were not coming back to the Parliament and that they would move their political activities on the street. Completely legitimate. We see it’s not Montenegrin model. That’s the model of Serbia, Albania, Macedonia – interestingly, every state that is rushing towards the EU. What’s important for us though is that the institutions work”, said Marković.
The fact that the President of the Parliament of Kosovo, Kadri Veselji, invited North Macedonia and Montenegro to unite forces against Serbia is totally unacceptable for Marković,
“Never has Montenegro been in the alliance against somebody. I don’t understand that kind of message. In Montenegro, it’s not acceptable, from our point of view, it’s nonsense”, says Marković.
European Commissioner also said that the dialogue should be hold in the Parliament. He pointed out that he was very worried about the attacks on the media and that he would closely supervise the entire situation.
PM pointed out that Montenegro would stay committed to the fulfillment of obligations within the negotiation process with the EU.
“A lot of work is ahead of us – improving rule of law, reinforcing institutions, and stepping up the fight against crime and corruption”, said Marković
